WINE ESTATE

The vineyard of Château Gaillard is located on the slopes which dominate the northern side of the river Loire between Amboise and Blois, in the very heart of the AOC appellation Touraine-Mesland. Since 1978, Vincent Girault has sought to produce wines true to the character of their “terroir”. In 1989, the property of Chateau Gaillard is cultivated following biodynamic methods to conserve the ancestral quality of its vineyards. All the wines carry the “Demeter” label, a guarantee of quality.

SOIL

Miocene sands. (35 hectares of which 7 are exclusively reserved for this wine)

GRAPE VARIETY

100% Sauvignon Blanc (17 years old)

VINIFICATION

Harvest mid-September with all the aromatic characteristics of the ripe grape directly off the vine. Maceration with skins present for an average of 12 hours for 2/3 of the pressing (Direct pneumatic pressing). During the fermentation, control in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats of temperature at 18°C. Maturing on lees for refinement until April.

FOOD PARING

Assortment of canapés, olives cake or asparagus. Great with seafood and fish.

TASTING NOTES

Pale yellow with green hints. Very characteristic of its variety, flowery, delicate. Fruity, dry, supple and silky white from pure Sauvignon grape, this fresh wine exhales perfume of the grape.
