Les Amouriers AOC Chusclan Cotes du Rhone Village
Varietal: 65 % Grenache Noir – 20 % Syrah – 10 % Carignan – 5% Mourvedre/Cinsault
Winemaking: 13 to 15 day vatting with traditional vinification. Grapes are issued from selected parcels according to a strict schedule of condition, with regular quality control, low yield and maturity control.
The wine has a deep dark shiny robe. The aromatic expression is powerful and concentrated with fine fruits notes. The blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan and Cinsault offers a very delicate wine with harmonious structure and well-integrated tannins. Les Amouriers is a warm, rich velvety wine with good aging potential. It will pair beautifully with red meat or any roasted/braised meat.
Wine in Chusclan has been produced by both Roman legionaries and benedectine monks and it was served at royal tables. With this kind of history, one would expect a high level of quality from the 150 ha. However little is to be found. This wine is a selection of grapes sourced from several different Terroirs of Chusclan and is named for the yellow flowers that dominate the valley floor. This rigorous selection emerges from a systematic computerization of parcels, in which the soil and grape varieties are evaluated in order to express the potential of each individual parcel. Low yield insure good fruit concentration and structure.
