- Plum and berry fruit.
- Quite rich and supple, tannins less marked than many.
- Good, smooth, potentially seductive wine.
- Best if decanted 1 to 2 hours in advance.
WINE ESTATE
- Classified “Cru Bourgeois” since 1932.
- Owned by the Lestage family since the XVII century. It is managed by “Cave Grand-Listrac” , the oldest French cooperative. (Created in 1935 by a handful of small winemaker from Listrac-Medoc)
- The surface of the domain is 7.5 hectares, located between the hilltops of Brillette and Grand Poujeaus.
SOIL
- Rich and varied soil composed of gravel and limestone of Pyrenean clay.
WINE MAKING Average age of the vines: 25 years
- 56% Merlot
- 44% Cabernet Sauvignon
VINE MAKING
- Harvested by hand.
- Long maceration in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats.
- Aged in oak barrel for 12 months.
- Bottled at the estate. The wine is unfiltered.
- Eric Boissenot, “oenologist for the Grand Cru” (Ch.Latour, Lafite, Margaux, Leoville las Cases…) who sign on the blending of Guitignan.
