WINE ESTATE
- Located in the heart of the Medoc area, the large estate of Laujac, spreads over 875 acres. It includes 2 vineyards listed as "Crus Bourgeois Supérieurs": Laujac on the beautiful hilltop made of filtering gravels, producing an excellent natural drainage, and Laffitte in the silty clay loam near the village of Bégadan. Château la Tour Cordouan is the 2nd label of Château Laujac
- The proximity of the Gironde estuary and of the Atlantic ocean, creates very favorable microclimate for the vineyard and the maturing of the grapes.
- Laujac is owned by the Cruse family since 1852. Following the footprints of family tradition, Bernard Cruse, continues to emphasize quality and creativity. His vision is to weave together the wines of tradition with those of contemporary innovation.
SOIL
Laujac wines are blended with wines coming from various geological soils.
- On the calcareous clays, of the Tertiary era, grow the Merlot vines which express themselves particularly well on these relatively heavy soils. We produce full, generous, and concentrated wines there.
- The other type of Soil that we have at Laujac is made of plio-Quaternary layers. These Soils are characterized by fine sandy loams. On these permeable soils, the Cabernet Sauvignon grows best along with the Petit Verdot and the Cabernet Franc. This part of the vineyard is the oldest one. It produces a very delicate wine with a beautiful complexity.
